Form I-140, Immigrant Petition for Alien Worker

Form I-140 may be completed by a citizen or lawful permanent resident of the United States. The purpose of Form I-140 is to file a petition for permanent residency in the United States on behalf of a foreign worker. The foreign worker him or herself cannot file Form I-140. Individuals that submit false documents will automatically commit a misdemeanor crime. If any supportive document is falsified, the benefit being applied for will denied along with penalties and criminal prosecution. The applicant may also be deported from the United States.
